It is fashioned from carefully chosen ingredients and with a lot of attention to detail. This extraordinary beer is crafted by Liesbeth Schwartz, Lis, a brewer who grew up in a warm nest of chemical engineers. With science in her DNA and tradition in her heart, she found a way to blend precision and passion into something extraordinary.
From a young age, Lis was surrounded by the inspiring world of chemistry and innovation, nurtured by parents who taught her to dream big and explore the unknown. Their encouragement planted the seeds for her own creative journey. As she delved deeper into the art of brewing, her passion for beer blossomed. The brew lab became her sanctuary, a place where she could experiment, create, and bring her vision to life.

Just as you have Mendeliev’s table for the known chemical elements, there is a periodic table of beer styles that categorizes and honors the rich diversity of brews worldwide. Lis’ heart was captured by the Schwarzbeer style, a rich and robust beer that resonated deeply with her—both in flavor and in name. Inspired by her family name, Schwartz, she lovingly reimagined this traditional German beer and gave it a personal twist. Thus, Schwartzbeer was born, a beer that reflects not only her family legacy but also her unwavering dedication to quality and craftsmanship.

Describing the flavors of Black Engine is a bit like describing Lis herself: complex yet approachable, bold yet creative, and always ambitious. As an engineer in aerospace and nuclear fusion, she embodies the bold spirit that dares to dream beyond limits, convinced that the sky has no limits.
