The name Rosa di Ledo, translated from Spanish as ‘The Rose of Lier’, refers to a dramatic chapter in the city’s history during the Spanish occupation in the 16th century.

Those types of flowers color the past of Lier, a city that was severely affected during World War 1. Each flower has a meaning: red poppies, symbols of remembrance for the thousands of soldiers who died in Flanders Fields during World War I.
